Human CD56
BACKGROUND
CD56 (NCAM) is a cell surface glycoprotein which occurs in numerous isoforms which mediated homophylic cell interactions. The insertion of other exons in the NCAM transcript increases the complexity and the spectrum of activities of these glycoproteins. It induces neurite outgrowth via the Fibroblast Growth Factor receptor.
