Human Transferrin receptor-2
BACKGROUND
The receptor is essential for iron transport into proliferating cells following their activation by mitogens and alloantigens. The molecule occurs in two forms which share about 45 % identity. Differently from receptor 1, receptor 2 is not down regulated upon iron overloading.
